Emmerdale‘s Marlon Dingle faces more heartache next week as the police uncover some important clues in April Windsor’s disappearance.
The ITV soap launched a new mystery storyline at Christmas as Marlon realised that his teenage daughter had gone missing. Viewers last saw her heading off in a strange car.
In next week’s scenes, there’s still no sign of April and very few leads to go on. Marlon and his mother-in-law Mary Goskirk conduct another search, but they fail to make any progress.
Family liaison officer Anna later arrives at Smithy Cottage to talk with Marlon and his wife Rhona.
Realising that it’s important to be honest about everything, Marlon informs the police that April discovered the full story about her mother’s death two weeks before she went missing.
Marlon agrees to let the police search the cottage. It’s quickly established that money and some of April’s belongings are missing.
Marlon and Rhona are upset by the implications of this, realising that April made a deliberate plan to run away.
Anna also reveals that she found contraceptive pills in April’s bedroom, much to the surprise of Marlon and Rhona.
With the revelations growing, Marlon starts to fear that he failed April during the troubles she was facing before her disappearance.
As the police continue to keep April’s family updated, Marlon is alerted to some of her social media activity and how it could relate to the case.
Meanwhile, Ross Barton feels guilty for his part in April’s disappearance, now questioning whether he did the right thing by telling her the truth about Donna.
Ross confides in Charity Dingle, who encourages him to make himself useful by taking part in the search. Will April ever be found?
