Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has spoken about David and Shona Platt’s new relationship crisis for the first time.
Last week’s episodes saw Shona risk her future with David as she had a secret one-night stand
Shona turned to Kit for comfort after discovering that David had been trying to block her access to her jailed son Clayton Hibbs.
David is currently oblivious to Shona’s betrayal, but the secret could be exposed later this month during a dramatic Christmas season for the Platts.
Speaking to and other press about his character’s likely reaction, Jack explained: “I think David will react in a way where he’ll have to try and get his own back on Kit somehow. He’ll have to try and do it in a clever way.
“With Kit being six foot taller than David, he won’t be able to take him on physically! It’ll have to be something that he does mentally. He’ll do something to mess Kit’s life up somehow. That’s what he’ll do – definitely.”
Asked whether David still loves Shona, Jack replied: “I think he does. That’s what makes it so painful for him when he does find out.
“It also makes it so hard for him to break the marriage up – because he does still love her. I think he’s kind of pissed off with himself that he fell in love with Shona in the first place.

“She’s the mother of the lad who killed his wife, so it should never have happened. It’s a sleeping giant that just will not go away.”
Jack also defended David’s controversial choice to stop Shona from seeing Clayton, pointing out the killer’s dark past.
He recalled: “Clayton murdered David’s wife – St Kylie – and he tried to kill Shona. So no, we’re not having him and we’re not speaking about him! We’re never mentioning his name and we’re pretending he doesn’t exist.
“That’s the kind of avenue I want to go down. As soon as Clayton started sending those little friend requests, David thought: ‘We’re not off to go and see him. We’re not doing that’.
“David didn’t even want to bring it up with Shona for the chance that she might say: ‘I want it’. So that’s why David put them in the bin.”
