Coronation Street has released new promotional material for Mason Radcliffe’s dark storyline.
It was recently announced that Mason would be at the centre of a horrific knife crime plot, which will leave him fighting for his life on Monday (January 6).
Convinced that they were involved in the death of her late wife Becky, DS Lisa Swain seeks help from Mason (Luca Toolan) to gather evidence against his nasty brothers Matty and Logan.
After finding some evidence for the police, the teenager tries to flee Weatherfield but is viciously attacked by his brothers, who stab him with a zombie knife. Mason is later found by Abi Webster and rushed to hospital, but will he survive?
A newly released photo shows those connected to the upcoming storyline, including Abi, Lisa’s daughter Betsy Swain, Maria and Liam Connor, Gary Windass, and Asha Alahan.
Dylan Wilson and Sean Tully will also be involved in the dramatic scenes, along with Sally and Tim Metcalfe, who are currently housing Mason.
Coronation Street has been working with The Ben Kinsella Trust to ensure the storyline will be told as accurately and sensitively as possible.
“It’s vitally important to shine a light on this topic, and really show the impact knife crime has on not only the victim and their loved ones, but also the wider community,” said the soap’s producer Kate Brooks.
“With the alarming statistics, we want to do anything we can as a show to combat this violent endemic. After watching this harrowing but important story unfold, if one person thinks twice about bringing a knife to a fight, then we’ve achieved our aim to raise awareness.”
