Watch: Beckham Netflix documentary – Official Trailer
Victoria Beckham‘s new Netflix series has received an exciting update.
Nadia Hallgren, who helmed the 2020 Michelle Obama documentary Becoming, has now joined the project as director (via Variety).
The currently untitled series, which began production in August, will follow the former Spice Girl’s journey into stardom, as well as her role as a business owner.
David Beckham‘s production company, Studio 99, will produce alongside Dorothy St Pictures, with Nicola Howson and Julia Nottingham on board to executive-produce.
The series will follow Victoria’s reinvention as the creative director of her own brand – offering exclusive access to her life, fashion and beauty business, and her never-before-seen archives.
The upcoming documentary will also explore the star’s time in the global spotlight, while “getting up close and personal” as she juggles her business and family life.
“Her Posh Spice days may be behind her, but today Beckham is on a journey to build a fashion empire – and now, fans will be able to see the story behind it all,” reads the show’s official synopsis.
This isn’t the first documentary about Victoria’s life. She previously appeared in Victoria’s Secrets (2000), Being Victoria Beckham (2002), The Real Beckhams (2003), and Victoria Beckham: Coming to America (2007).
After the Spice Girls disbanded in 2001, Victoria released her debut solo album, which produced two UK Top 10 singles.
She went on to create her own eponymous fashion label in 2008, which earned her an OBE in 2017. She later launched a skincare and beauty line in 2019.
Victoria’s new Netflix venture comes after the success of her husband David’s docuseries Beckham, which landed on the streaming service last year.
The four-part series chronicled the footballer’s meteoric rise to become one of England’s most celebrated players. It featured several football legends, including Gary Neville, Eric Cantona, Roy Keane and Sir Alex Ferguson.
