Tom Hiddleston and Karen Gillan‘s new movie The Life of Chuck has confirmed its cinematic release date.

The Stephen King adaptation will premiere on the big screen in the US on May 30, 2025, with indie label Neon handling the release.

Directed by and Doctor Sleep‘s Mike Flanagan, the film tells the story of its titular character in three segments shown in reverse order, starting with his death and ending with his childhood.

As well as the two Marvel Cinematic Universe stars, the film also features Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mark Hamill, Jacob Tremblay, Nick Offerman, Matthew Lillard, David Dastmalchian, Harvey Guillén, Rahul Kohli, and (Flanagan’s wife) Kate Siegel, just to name a few.

Back in September (when the film was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival), the director told Vanity Fair why he was so keen to take on this King project in particular.

“By the end of [reading the book], I was in tears, and incredibly uplifted, and convinced I’d read maybe the best thing that he’d written in a decade,” Flanagan said.

“I just was floored by the thing. So I fired off an email to him right away saying how much I loved the story, how incredible I thought it was, how meaningful, and important, and how it had really tattooed itself on my heart and said, ‘It’s the movie I want to make so that it’ll exist in the world for my kids.'”

King was unsure about the book’s potential as a movie, but once he saw what Flanagan had created, he was convinced that it was a worthwhile endeavour,
