with coercive controlling behaviour and assault last week after new evidence came to light which backed up Belle’s allegations.
When Tom then made a failed attempt to flee abroad, he was arrested for breaching his bail conditions and held on remand in prison.
Wednesday’s episode confirmed that Tom had pleaded not guilty in court in off-camera scenes. The news concerned Belle, as well as Tom’s relatives Jimmy and Nicola, as they’ll all now have to face the stress of a court trial.
Later, Tom had another manipulative conversation with his young cousin Angelica over the phone – hoping that she could somehow sway Jimmy back to his side.
Tom explained: “Me and your dad, we spoke about a lot of things. About my dad, about me and Belle. If there’s one person who can make the jury see that I am incapable of any of these things that Belle is saying about me, it’s him.”
Angelica promised to speak to Jimmy about the possibility of him testifying in support of Tom.
The impressionable teenager assured Tom that she’d find a way to bring up the topic without revealing that they’ve secretly been in contact with each other.
Tom replied: “Thank you, Angelica. I don’t know how I’d get through this without you.”
Angelica secretly placed earlier this week – keen to keep supporting her cousin now that everyone else has turned against him.
It’s clear that this is a decision that Angelica will ultimately live to regret, but how much damage could be done in the meantime?
