Has Marlon gone too far
Watch: Emmerdale Soap Scoop! Jacob’s special episode
Marlon Dingle may have just made his relationship with daughter worse after a harsh outburst.
Marlon had been left shocked after he scrolled through April’s phone and found out she had been attempting to source cannabis.
This led to a heated confrontation between the pair with April accusing Marlon of being a “liar” who “spied” on her, while he tried to assure her he was just looking out for her.
Things then got worse when April discovered Marlon had told Ross Barton to stay away from her and she told her dad she would never forgive him for his actions.
On tonight’s Emmerdale (Tuesday, December 24) Marlon still hadn’t given April her phone back, leaving her feeling less than festive.
At the Woolpack, Marlon confided in Chas that he was worried his daughter was about to go “off the rails” but she assured him April wasn’t the type.
But, when their backs were turned, April ended up stealing a bottle of alcohol from the pub’s back room.
April then snuck off to Cathy’s house to invite her out to drink the wine but Cathy refused, saying she wasn’t like that anymore.
When Cathy tried to explain that she understood why April hadn’t been told the truth about her mother’s death, April accused her of being a “hypocrite” and walked off.
Later, April arrived home noticeably drunk and ruined a cake that Wendy had made for the family.
April then said she wanted her dad to apologise for lying, but Marlon tried again to explain that he was only looking out for her.
She then said that Ross was the only person she could talk to and her dad took that away from her, before knocking the bottle of red wine over the kitchen table and onto a memory card.
Picking up the card, Marlon told her: “You stupid girl! Do you know what this is? That is the video your mum made for you. Well congratulations, you’ve ruined it now.”
An emotional April responded: “You think it’s my fault she died don’t you? She died to protect me, that’s why you hate me.”
April then said she felt invisible and it would be so much easier for everyone if she just faded into the background.
Marlon responded by shouting: “I wish you would,” before instantly regretting it and saying he didn’t mean it.
But the damage was already done and April walked out telling her dad it was the “most honest thing,” he’d said in ages.
