Coronation Street has released a new tribute to Helen Worth as she prepares for her final episode as Gail Platt.

It was announced in June that Worth would depart after 50 years in the role, with the actor saying it was the “perfect time” to say goodbye.

With the character’s departure set to occur over the festive period, the tributes have come pouring in for a true soap icon, and now producers at Corrie have created a new video to commemorate the character’s legacy.

The eight-minute video, which has been released on the soap’s YouTube channel, includes footage of Worth’s leaving party, with the event – which took place at the famous Bistro from the soap – leading to many smiles and tears amongst the cast and crew.

Additionally, the tribute also includes a montage of Gail’s most famous storylines, ranging from her various marriages – six in total! – to her famous street spat with arch-nemesis Eileen Grimshaw.

Worth previously released a statement regarding her exit, sharing: “This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world. I made the decision at the start of the year and spoke to the producers who were very kind and understanding.

“I have been truly blessed to have been given the most incredible scripts week in week out and to have worked with fantastic actors, directors and a brilliant crew. The past 50 years have flown by and I don’t think the fact that I am leaving has quite sunk in yet.”
