The wait is nearly over. Neighbours returns to our screens on Monday (January 6) after taking a two-week break for Christmas and New Year.
Max’s cliffhanger is resolved, Yaz makes her next move and there’s a potential new crisis for Paul and Terese. If you just can’t wait for the episodes to watch all the drama unfold, check out our guide to 13 big moments on the way.

1. Max gets a second chance
Max is hero of the hour after pushing Sadie out of harm’s way in the attempted hit and run incident. Sadie and Byron both thank him for his bravery and they invite him to continue living at the share house after all.
Despite this change in fortunes, Max starts to worry that he may have been the target of the attack rather than Sebastian. At the hospital, Max goes to see the injured driver to check whether he’s a face from the past.
2. Krista and Leo both feel guilty
Krista and Leo are both shocked to learn that Sebastian has been injured in the incident on Power Road. It’s clear that Sebastian was the target when it’s revealed that the driver had a photo of him.
As it dawns on Krista that the loan sharks finally caught up with Sebastian, she feels guilty for not being more understanding when he needed her help. Krista heads to the hospital to apologise to Sebastian, while Leo also says sorry for inadvertently sharing his whereabouts with the attacker.
3. Max sparks suspicion
Still convinced that there was more to the hit and run drama than met the eye, Max searches through the attacker’s car for evidence. He’s relieved when Andrew later confirms that the man in question was trying to hurt Sebastian.
Andrew gets suspicious when he learns that an unknown person has been searching through the car. When Andrew then overhears Max on the phone to his father, he starts to wonder what the Ramsay Street newcomer has to hide.
4. Leo’s jealousy returns
Leo struggles with Krista’s rekindled desire to support Sebastian after the attempted hit and run. He confides in Paul with his fears that Krista and Sebastian will fall back into unhealthy habits of co-dependency.
Leo hopes that Sebastian will move into a room at the hotel rather than staying with Krista again, but his worst fears are realised when Krista insists on her best friend moving into her apartment.
5. Sebastian rejects professional help
Leo encourages Sebastian to address his issues by checking into rehab. Sebastian rejects this idea, insisting that staying with Krista will be enough to help his recovery.
Krista agrees that she can take on a similar role to the one that David played for her last year. However, as Krista spends time with Sebastian, she’s unaware that she’s inadvertently fuelling a crush that he’s been secretly harbouring for years.
6. Yaz continues to manipulate Holly
Holly breaks down at the Kennedy house after receiving a Christmas gift that is supposedly from Heath.
Having organised this cruel delivery, Yaz arrives at Number 28 and finds Holly at her most vulnerable. She seizes on this opportunity and quizzes Holly about her relationship with Heath and his grisly death, hoping to secure a confession from her.
7. Disaster strikes for Holly again
Holly gets rid of Heath’s perfume by donating it to Sonya’s Foundation. She hopes to finally move on from Heath, but this proves impossible when Yaz’s lighting technician Kendall buys the perfume and starts wearing it around the complex.
Shaken by this latest reminder of Heath, a troubled Holly flees and seeks some time out to compose herself.
Later, Holly tries to help Aaron move some control boards that have arrived for the lighting show. As Holly’s run of bad luck continues, the trolley carrying the boards tips over and the expensive equipment falls into the Lassiters fountain.
8. Yaz plays her cruellest trick yet
Holly expects to be fired by Yaz after her unfortunate mistake with the boards. Keen to keep Holly in her orbit, scheming Yaz immediately forgives her and insists that it’s not a problem.
Later, Yaz strikes again by secretly planting some audio-visual equipment from the light show in Holly’s home.
That night, Holly is terrified when she’s woken by the eerie sound of Heath’s voice. Holly wrongly assumes that she’s hallucinating – and ruthless Yaz enjoys the show as she watches on.
9. Nicolette is torn over her romantic future
Nicolette continues to act as a confidante for Yaz, who opens up about her brother’s death without disclosing his identity. However, after so many false starts and missed opportunities, Nicolette insists that they should call time on their romantic connection and just stay friends.
Nicolette is sure that she’s making the right decision, as Yaz will be returning to the US once the light show is over. However, when Aaron later praises Yaz for seemingly being so caring towards Holly, Nicolette changes her mind and decides to give Yaz another chance.
10. Aaron and Rhett go on a date

Aaron is taken aback when Rhett visits The Waterhole and asks him out on a date. Jane encourages Aaron to accept this potential chance for some fresh company.
Rhett’s first idea is to go to a movie, but this plan is abandoned when Aaron is sent away on an errand for the Lights Up event. Aaron convinces Rhett to join him for the trip into the city so they can get to know each other better.
The idea doesn’t go entirely to plan, as Aaron struggles to find his way around the city and repeatedly brings up David’s name. Rhett tries to calm Aaron’s nerves, but will it be enough?
11. Paul and Terese hit a hurdle

Paul and Terese cause a stir with their public displays of affection following their recent reunion.
Things seem to be going well for the couple, but Terese harbours secret reservations when Paul suggests that they should team up to redevelop Power Road.
12. Vera prepares to move out

Vera starts looking for a new place to live, which leaves the share house gang feeling guilty as they know her decision is partly influenced by their cruel comments on Christmas Eve.

Sadie, Max and Byron team up to help Vera make a good impression when she’s interviewed over a potential new place to rent. Unfortunately, Vera’s abrasive personality leads to trouble at the interview.
13. Sadie’s new look gets a mixed reaction

Sadie signs up for a piercing course, as Paul is considering it as a new service which can be supplied at the day spa. She later returns home with a septum piercing, which earns compliments from Andrew but leaves Byron feeling uneasy.
When Sadie starts considering further piercings, Byron secretly hopes that she won’t go through with it.
